I recently received the 2008 (2) issue of the Cactus & Co journal describing a new Lophophora species, Lophophora alberto-vojtechii. The mature plants of the lilliputian species are less than 2 cm (0.8'') wide and the flowers are said often to be larger than the diameter of the plant.

ReplyDeleteL alberto vojtechii is recombination of NO valid description L. koehresii. The reason why description was made by Czech botanist in C S magazine was exhibition of authors ... :-(
ReplyDeleteWell, I have to say that I personally think the description is pretty convincing. According to Marlon Machado preliminary results by Martin Terry also seem to confirm that there are indeed five good Lophophora species. I guess we'll all be wiser when Martin publishes the results of his DNA studies.
